Tomatoes

I picked up these odd (I say odd because I've never seen such a thing) tomatoes last weekend..there's yellow, green, red, purple & orange. I love me some tomatoes!! I'd say that tomatoes were a staple in my house however my husband is repulsed by them. I like them in salads, on top of bagels, made into salsa sliced with sea salt, olive oil, fresh garlic & baked in the oven.

I'm growing 6 tomato plants this year. I think if I end up with too many (it's doubtful) that I'd like to can make salsa and can them.

How do you like your tomatoes?

  1. I like my tomatoes all sorts of ways. However, if I make a salad (or anything else) using them, I have to dice them up since SOMEONE hates big chunks of tomatoes. /sigh
    hah!
I've seen the 'odd' colored tomatoes at the grocery store. Maybe I'll pick some up next time.

  3. I LOVE tomatoes, ate lots and lots of them growing up, because my grandfather would plant 40 tomato plants, or more. We'd pick them and leave them on the railing of the deck to ripen.

The summer before I left for college, we got our hands on some purple tomato plants. I left before they had tomatoes that were ripe, so my grandmother decided to mail them to me. Yes, mailed them, from the northern part of Oregon to the Southern part. In September. I don't recommend it.\

  4. Tomatoes! I like mine as part of caprese salad, in salsa and as bruschetta. Yum! Think I'll make some of the latter soon. Your tomatoes look yummy!
