Update on no cable..

*

Well it's been a little over a year since my husband and I gave cable the heave ho. I know there have been a few times where we looked up cable companies to see if we could get a good deal..we found some but at the end of the day none were as good as paying nothing. I had Hulu plus here and there and we still have Netflix streaming. We absolutely love Netflix streaming by the way. It has made the 'no cable' transition 100 times better. Will we ever get cable again? Maybe, possibly? Probably not. We also got an antenna as well which is nice too. Do I have more free time? No, the ONLY show I ever JUST sit and watch is Big brother. I just don't like sitting and watching tv..I am always multitasking.

  1. we just got rid of our cable. we're finding ways to cut back and get rid of stuff we absolutely don't need. i quit my job in july. when i work i tend to turn into a uber stressed out workaholic. so not being like that has put me on cloud 9 and i want to take a bit longer to get back into the job scene. so making adjustments with our budget is a must. we also have netflix streaming and it's more than enough to satisfy our watching needs. and the news we just get off npr or by reading.

  2. We got rid of cable years ago and have not regretted it a bit. There are times when I'd love to have the a few channels like the history channel, the animal channel and the science type channels for our homeschooling. But it is nice that we don't watch that much tv.
We are quite happy with Netflix and see no reason to change.

    1. And you can get a lot through the library as far as educational stuff.

  3. I asked Eric how he'd feel about canceling our cable and it was definitely a no-go. -_- We both watch so many shows, a lot of them in common, so I don't think we could do this, but I know I'd love the not having an additional bill to pay aspect of it!

    1. I used to think I was a tv junky but since not having cable it hasn't really been that bad so maybe I wasn't? lol Or I just adjusted well :)

  4. I want to live without cable but I just don't think I could. A lot of people are doing it though to save money and I think it's great. On top of Cable we have Netflix streaming AND DVD's by mail. We need help!!

    1. For me between Netflix streaming and getting movies from the library I get my fill. If you are wanting cable for the lower channels like Abc, Nbc, and Cbs you can get an antenna which has helped me get my primetime fix :)

  5. We don't have cable either. We moved and we didn't want to take a new subscription. I do miss watching nature and lifestyle channels but we can stream most of our favorite shows online so it's not that bad.
