This movie caught my eye because I saw it had Michael B. Jordan in (I really liked him in Parenthood)..But the movie ended up being a good movie to boot. It's a true story about a young man who seems to want to get his life together. I don't want to post more about it though & give it away. It's not usually my type of movie. Violence in movies makes me want to curl up in a ball & look away & while this movie doesn't have a lot of violence but what little bit it has is heart wrenching. Normally when I see a good movie I watch it more than once but once was enough for me for this one.
From seeing the preview of this movie I knew I was going to love it. I am drawn to movies that involve the ocean. I'm not a huge Tom Hanks fan but it he did excellent in this movie. It's about a cargo ship captain & some Somali pirates & I'm sure you can guess the rest. I geeked out when the Navy Special Forces made their appearance in the movie but that's just me being a geek. I did see this one in the movie theater which as I have said before...I am not big on sitting for two hours to watch a movie unless I know almost for certain that it will be a good movie. I got it from the library and watched it two more times and one more with commentary on.
It's rare that I see a movie on Netflix streaming that I enjoy enough to give a review on..not because they all suck but for a majority of them if they are good I've seen them on dvd first. This is a movie about two art students who at first do not get along. But soon the guy is interested in the ever so feisty girl who is taken already. Is it a typical boy chases girl but girl has a boyfriend love story?
I really like movies based on a true story. It just adds so much interest.
